Testing of new needles and education of young colleagues may cause unnecessary inconvenience to the patients. This phantom was developed to minimize problems of this kind.
Description:
The phantom consists of tissue mimicking material containing 3 channels of 3 mm, 4 mm and 5 mm mmØ. The openings of the channels are accesible from the ends, so that it can bee seen whether a guidewire is placed correct. The distances from the surface to the channels are from 1 cm in the one end to 3 cm in the other end.

Practice:
Place the needle tip in the “vein” (channel) and advance the guidewire until the tip of the guidewire can be seen at the end of the phantom.
